Mélodie is a visual artist born in a small french city called Vendee, she studied at Ecoles des Beaux Arts de Rennes, then at ECAL in Lausanne where she became part of a local art community, collaborating with photographers, graphic designers, musicians and film makers. She graduated in 2005, since then she's been travelling Europe and working on different projects. Her production is a complex game of references, as much from pop culture as from art history. Mélodie is now living in Los Angeles and attending a Master at Calarts, her latest project was a show with Claudia Comte titled "You cut but you can't" at the gallery Zwanzigquadratmeter in Berlin.

 

Was it always your dream to pursue a career as an artist?

It has never been really a dream, not even a choice, a mere necessity. I just couldn't do anything else.
